NCSE on climate education legislation in AMC Outdoors

NCSE's deputy director Glenn Branch was interviewed for Clare Kittredge's "Should Climate Change Education in Schools Be Mandatory?" which appeared in AMC Outdoors (August 26, 2019).

The article focuses on the recent attempt in Connecticut to require the teaching of climate change in the state's public schools by statute. "While his organization strongly supports expanded and accurate climate change teaching, Branch believes there are more effective ways to accomplish that goal than mandates. ... Rather than mandates, Branch suggests training science teachers how to teach climate change accurately in the face of political pressure."

AMC Outdoors is a publication of the Appalachian Mountain Club, which "is committed to climate research, to reducing its own carbon footprint, and to climate education," according to the article.
