"Strengthening Cllimate Change Education in the United States" report cover.

"Strengthening Climate Change Education in the United States" (PDF), a new report from the international non-profit organization FHI360, offers four recommendations to advance climate change education in the United States:

  1. Enact policy to support climate change education at national, state, district, and school levels.
  2. Provide access to high-quality curricula and materials that are grounded in scientific evidence.
  3. Support educators with training and professional development.
  4. Scale up out-of-school time and work-based learning models.

Unsurprisingly, the report invokes NCSE's reporting on climate change education policy as well as the 2014-2015 NCSE/Penn State survey (PDF) of climate change educators and the 2020 NCSE/Texas Freedom Network Education Fund study of climate change in state science standards.
