NCSE’s new website launches today! Why a new website? I’m so glad you asked.
First of all, it was time. The old website launched 8 years ago, which as you know is at least 100 years in Internet Time. Like closets and garages, websites get cluttered over time, and stuff gets hard to find. The redesign process gave us a chance to re-organize, de-clutter, and make it easier to find all the rich content-unique to NCSE-on evolution, creationism, climate change, the nature of science, and the history of anti-science efforts. Look for all those resources under the new LEARN tab.
Secondly, NCSE is (if you’ll excuse the pun) evolving! Since the launch of the old website, we have added the defense of climate change education to our traditional mission of defending the teaching of evolution. Our new logo symbolizes that change. Darwin’s iconic tree is now superimposed on an abstract globe, representing the healthy planet that we believe responsible climate change education will help preserve.
Finally, the new website highlights the new programs NCSE has launched to ensure that teachers gain the expertise and confidence they need to teach evolution and climate change in the face of societal controversy. You can read more about the full scope of our programs at the ABOUT tab.
Whether by supporting teachers directly through NCSEteach and Scientist in the Classroom, or indirectly through local community Science Booster Clubs, our goal is to foster an environment in which teachers can cover evolution and climate change honestly and completely, just like all other areas of science. The new website makes it easy for teachers, scientists, and community members to learn about and get involved in NCSE’s work. If there’s a threat to science education in your community, you can ask for our help here. You can also sign up for action alerts or our free weekly e-newsletter, join NCSEteach, or read the latest news.
And, of course, you can join NCSE, or make a donation, and join thousands of others who are helping us accomplish our critical mission.
The new site is designed to look beautiful and work smoothly on your phone or tablet as well as your computer. Please let us know what you think at info@ncse.com.
