A large majority of registered voters think that schools should teach children about global warming, according to a new survey from the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication and the George Mason University for Climate Communication.
Presented with "Schools should teach our children about the causes, consequences, and potential solutions to global warming," 42% of respondents strongly agreed, 37% somewhat agreed, 9% somewhat disagreed, and 12% strongly disagreed.
"Support spans the political spectrum," according to the report, although there was a partisan divide: 97% of liberal Democrats strongly or somewhat agreed, while only 50% of conservative Republicans strongly or somewhat disagreed.
The survey was conducted online from December 3 to December 16, 2020, among 949 registered voters sampled so as to include a representative cross-section of American adults. The margin of error at the 95% confidence level for the full sample is +/- 3 percentage points.
