NCSE is represented in the latest issue of The American Biology Teacher, published by the National Association of Biology Teachers.
In his guest editorial column, NCSE's Deputy Director Glenn Branch asked, "Why Are There Still Misconceptions about Evolution?" Starting with the misconception that underlies the all-too-frequent question "If we evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?", Branch pivoted to the more general question suggested in his title — "[I]f misconceptions about evolution have been recognized as obstacles to the understanding and acceptance of evolution by scientists and science educators for more than a century, why are there still misconceptions about evolution?" — and then, finally, to "[W]hy are there still biology educators who aren’t teaching evolution effectively?"
The whole issue of The American Biology Teacher is devoted, as usual for the February issue, to evolution, and the contents are freely available.
