Christie Vogler

Christie Vogler is a PhD candidate in the Anthropology Department at the University of Iowa with an emphasis on archaeology. She has participated in multiple excavations at Gangivecchio, Sicily, the site of an Early Roman Empire structure. Her research based on this site employs middle-range theory and small-artifact distribution analysis to examine the occupational roles of Roman women living in this region during the 1st-3rd century CE. Christie is also a former educator with the Iowa Children’s Museum where she helped develop STEM programming for elementary school-aged children, including a program that introduced participants to the fields of geology, paleontology, and archaeology.
