From Dirty to Clean

Discover ways to improve water quality.

What are some of the best ways to clean contaminated rivers and streams? From Dirty to Clean helps participants discover different passive remediation options, such as the use of limestone, plants, and bacteria. Passive remediation is a consistent improvement of water quality without the continuous addition of a treatment source. Passive remediation can be humman-made or natural, it just needs to be able to maintain efficiency once in place. From Dirty to Clean, developed by Graduate Student Outreach Fellow Michelle Valkanas, not only introduces different passive treatment options, it also examines how they work to clean contaminated water.
