Zachary Compton received his bachelor’s degree in genetics and is currently pursuing his doctorate in evolutionary biology at Arizona State University as part of the Arizona Cancer Evolution Center. He is interested in all the intersections evolutionary theory makes with cancer biology, with a particular focus on comparative oncology—the study of cancer across the tree of life. His current research focuses on how body size, lifespan, and other life histories shape species-level cancer risk throughout the animal kingdom. Zach is passionate about bringing evolution into the cancer clinic, as well as the classroom.
